We have tried to make this site as simple to use as possible, so it should be fairly self-explanatory as you go. You MUST read the rules of this site before posting any advert. You can place a simple advert with one picture for free. It will show to all of NZ (actually, to all the world) until you (or we) remove it. You can advertise to sell things, or for things you want, or for services you provide. Anything legal, and within our rules. After your advert is entered, you will be sent an Email to the email address you gave us. You must click on the link in that Email to activate your advert. This ensures that the owner of that Email is the person posting the advert. That information, plus the IP address of the poster are stored in our database, allowing us to take action against those placing false adverts etc. STEPS to advertise. First, select the category you wish to advertise in. If it doesn't exist let us know and we will add it. We do have a 'Wanted' category, but you can put a 'want-ad' in any other category. Just make sure to add the WANTED bit. As the first word in the Title perhaps. Secondly, yes, that title. Short, brief, and to the point. About 40 characters Max is good. Anything else can go in the description. Third, the asking price. If it's a free item, or has no price, like a 'wanted' item, enter a zero. Don't leave it blank or you'll need to start over again. Fourth is that description. About 180 characters show on the main page, depending on if a picture is present, so try to put the important details first. The rest will show in the full view, when the users clicks on the picture or title. Fifth is a picture of the item or items. It can only be one picture, but can contain several items, or several other pictures, but it MUST BE in .jpg or .jpeg or .png format, and no larger than 1 megabyte in size. Anything else it will just show as a black pane. You can scan a book front and back, or scan two items, then merge the pictures into one, but it does make the main page thumbnail hard to view. Save your picture to a handy place, say the desktop. Clicking on the 'browse' button allows you to locate the picture on your computer. Browse to where you stored it, then click 'open' to upload a copy of your picture to our database. Sixth is your name, nickname, username, business name etc. This can be anything or nothing. It's not essential. Seventh, the City. Like the name this is non-essential, but it is handy for users to know, so they can decide whether to inspect the goods and pick up an item for cash if close by, or to estimate the probable freight costs if not. Eighth and finally, your Email address. This must be correct, as it is how people will contact you to purchase your item, or to make inquiries, an offer etc. It is also used as above, to validate you, and activate your advert. The Email address itself is NOT shown to users for privacy reasons, only a link they can click to contact you. CAUTION. If you wish you can put your Email address, website links, phone number etc in the Description area, but this can lead to unwanted, persistent and sometimes abusive calls. Your phone number can be easily looked up in the phone book to find your address. Unwanted visitors might then arrive. TAKE CARE WITH WHAT YOU SHOW. |
